Quite a day.

Not mine. That was kinda meh. But the talent that entered this world on various days in the past....

You saw the one, likely.

The doodly version of that was highly intelligent pan-dimensional interactive, including the keypad rendering a long cycle of HHGTG references, the lift button revealing Marvin in the back, and the search button pointing to Douglas Adams birthday references.  Including this one, which surprised even me:

“Douglas Adams was a genius. He was a profound and brilliant British humorist who was also a very reluctant novelist,” friend and fellow British storyteller Neil Gaiman tells Comic Riffs....“Most writers become novelists because they like writing novels,” says Gaiman, who authored the companion book “Don’t Panic: Douglas Adams & the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” “Douglas wrote a radio series that then became a huge and enormously successful novel, so he found himself stuck as an incredibly reluctant novelist who would have to be locked in a room by his publisher to finish a book.” (“I love deadlines,” Adams famously said. “I love the whooshing sound they make as they go by.”)

Holy towel. For years, I've had a tome about DNA called Hitchhiker, which I thought was the definitive backstory book, but I never knew Gaiman did one, too. That provides a much-appreciated link between The Guide and the Whoniverse, which contributes the other births to today's date.

----

Hel-lo, sweetie.

Alex Kingston turned 50 today, in quite a year to do it.

The Wiki gives topper billing to her playing Dr. Corday on ER, but- spoilers!- that show's over.  To me she will always be River and Melody and Missus. I've no doubt that she will be prominent in the 50th anniversary special when it finally arrives.

----

And then, four years later, suddenly we knew Jack: John Barrowman turned 46 today.  Word is, he is also "in talks" to be a part of the Moff's observance of the 50th.  From the look of the oohs and arrs I got mentioning him earlier, these talks will be highly appreciated by the fandom.

And speaking of him and of fandom, there's still time to comment here, or PM thanatos_kalos on LJ, if you've got US, UK or EH connections and are willing to be interviewed about Torchwood.  You will be anonymized but not anagrammed.

Wow, I just took a screenshot of the image, and I didn't notice anything interactive about it (which had "Don't panic" in Bulgarian in it in the Googgle.bg version), and it's now past midnight in my time zone. :(

I couldn't figure out how to embed the thing- seemingly, neither has anybody else.

But it's now museumed, in all its interactive glory, here:
