There's plenty of shit going on in the world right now. Bradley Manning's conviction and other personal issues. Military pushbacks in Egypt and Syria. The NASDAQ being offline for much of this week. Hell, even A-Rod and pitches being thrown at him. Yet what is the second top trending topic on Google News as I write this?
The goddam Batman:
According to one local news/sports outlet, Ben Affleck's annointing to the role of Robert a Bruce "broke the Internet" in the past 24 hours. It apparently has to do with his lackluster performance as Daredevil in 2003.
It reached the threshold of necessary action on the whitehouse.gov website, since more than 100,000 geeks petitioned President Obama to “denounce the selection of Ben Affleck” and recast the role of Batman.
Thanks for your interest in We the People, a new tool on WhiteHouse.gov that allows all Americans to ask the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country.

Apparently, neither Daredevil nor Gigli is considered sufficiently newsworthy for the POTUS to launch a drone hit on Bennifer, with or without his -nifer suffix. Personally, I don't get what the fuss is about; his recent redemption in Argo, not to mention his Bat-like ass-kicking of Satan in Dogma, make him a far worthier successor to Adam (West) than Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney or Bale. All of whom sound like a less-than-kickass law firm.
