Holiday Musings
Really nothing to say about the holiday itself today. Far as I'm concerned, Sarah Vowell said all that needed to be said yesterday and I'm sticking with that. I am glad that more and more businesses are honoring the event; as a result, it was quieter than a usual Monday, and while I worked for most of it, I also got in an Elementary and a workout toward the end of the day.

One business that was As Usual was our vet, and Ebony had her stitches removed. Despite us being less than diligent about keeping her from getting at the stitched-up area, they said it had healed nicely and, barring any aggravation from the stitch removal itself, she should be good to go.  In the waiting room when I got there were two women with dogs- one I knew (a now-retired secretary from the office I work out of here), and one with a cute older Corgi, who Ebony was dying to get to know in that you-sniff-my-butt-I'll-sniff-yours kind of way.  She was shocked to hear that Ebony had just turned 12; "But she looks so young!"  Yes, she does.  A lifetime of nothing but love and caring will do that for you.

Eleanor's on a later schedule this week, going in later but not getting out until 5:30 today and the next three.  I think I just heard her (and I'm certainly hearing a cackle of protesting animals about not feeding them the second I walked in the door), so I'd best end this one right here.
