"It's snow, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it...." - Blather. Rants. Repeat.
A Møøse once bit my sister ...
"It's snow, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it...."

My car reported that the afternoon outdoor temperature in suburban B-lo was 67F this afternoon. Not sure I believe that, but it was definitely above freezing. Eleanor and I both ventured out coatless to acquire the new laptop she'll be using. I easily hacked the remnants of ice from the vicinity of our front walk and driveway.

By this time tomorrow, though? Hellzareturnin:

Winter Storm Vulcan will intensify into a powerhouse storm as it pushes across the Midwest and into the Northeast now through Thursday. It will also dump heavy snow just across the border in the most heavily populated region of Canada.

Vulcan has brought some snow to the West, particularly the northern Rockies. Automated snow-measuring sensors estimated up to 16 inches of snow in the mountains of southwest Montana Monday and Monday night. The Northern Black Hills of South Dakota had seen up to 8 inches of snow as of midday Tuesday.

After skipping over the Central Plains with a meager mixture of snow and rain, Vulcan will become a force to contend with east of the Mississippi River. Winter storm warnings have been issued for parts of nine U.S. states and five Canadian provinces in anticipation of heavy snow and high winds.

What does that mean to us?

Yeah. A fresh foot to a foot and a half where I'm leaving from tomorrow, more like two feet in Rochester where I have to be at 9 tomorrow. So far, the pundits have only been waffling on the when rather than the how much, suggesting that I might beat the worst of it if I just leave ass-early tomorrow and head back as soon as the 9:00 hearing is done.

So that's the plan. Subject to revision either way if they either cancel things before I leave, or the damn Vulcan gets drunk on plomeek soup and misses us altogether.

Tune in tomorrow. And prosper.
