Big Night. Shitty Day.
I'm trying to keep The Smile on, hoping for a good show tonight- both by the performer (which I'm quite confident of) and of an audience (less so).  Leading up to it, though, has been a cluster of fudges:

I moved a workout from tomorrow to today so I wouldn't try to do it after being exhausted after the show, especially given that we move the clocks forward tonight.  Then I rescheduled it again- by an hour, from 11 to 10 this morning, after getting off a waitlist late last night- to accommodate a client who wanted to see me at noon today.  So I arrived in the parking lot before the not-much-but-very-cold-weather burst of snow had been plowed....

and instantly slipped and planted my ass on the asphalt.  We get "splat points" for every minute our pulse monitor records a heart rate of more than 80 percent of maximum; my first splat of the day was a literal one and occurred before I even got in.  At least the primary impact was ass and not head.

Finished that, and there was the voicemail: client couldn't make it today after all. I went to the office anyway, to pick up some files to work on tomorrow (yes, the onslaught continues), but also to see if we got this week's issue of the Buffalo Law Journal.  In addition to me permanently replacing the attorney whose office I've been subletting as of May 1, the third lawyer in the office is also giving up space, so we remaining two are running an ad for it. Yes, the ad is there, although buried inside because they gave a full-page ad on the back to the law firm which has a story about it on the front page. And yes, there's a typo in our ad. Nothing major, though: just the last digit of my phone number:P  Fortunately, I'm the second point of contact, and the other number and both email addresses are right.  I will call the "wrong number" and apologize in advance.

Nothing bad's happened since I got home, other than reading the news. Interesting showdown: all remaining holdover US Attorneys were summarily asked to resign yesterday, including one from downstate New York named Preet Bharara with a reputation for ruthless and nonpartisan investigation of the politically powerful- he took down the Republican and Democratic leaders of the New York State Lej last year.  After the election, he met with the Elect, who asked him to stay, but either one of his nutjob advisers or possibly radio host Lumpy Hannity got him to change his mind.  Preet refused to resign, so he was just fired.  I expect he will wind up in the State Attorney General's office- another high-profile prosecution spot- and might just continue his investigation all the way to the top of Orange Tower:

Preeto vs. Cheeto.

You're welcome, New York Post.

I hope you're right & he ends up running just such an investigation. Revenge would be sweet indeed.

Glad to hear you didn't splat your head.
