Style-your-garage.com sells something I never thought anyone would want: trompe-l'œil garage door covers. Like a giant rotisserie! Or a wine cellar! Or this not very sanitary meat locker. Last June I rented a house through a real estate agent. The lease states that it runs from June 6th to June 6th. I paid the entire year up front, plus a one months security deposit for a total of $16,250. On May 28, 2009, I notified her that we would be moving out on June 28,(per an agreement to give 30 days notice) and paid the prorated rent of $800 from the 6th to the 28th. She said the security deposit would be sent out in 30 days and the house had to be clean.

We filled all nail holes and touched up the paint on the walls so you couldn't even tell anything had been hung on the walls. We cleaned the place spotless and steamed cleaned the rugs, although some spots remained dingy.

Today I emailed her and asked if she'd had a chance to inspect the house (there's a for sale sign out front so I know she has)and she replied that she couldn't release the deposit until she had the rugs clean, but aside from that, I skipped the payment from May 6th to June 6th and then only paid from June 6th to the 28th, so we owed them money! How is this possible? The entire year was paid up front. A 12 month lease would run from June 6-June 6, no? Am I missing something?

…time for me to bid adieu to the Feministe readership. These were two stimulating weeks. Though of course I didn’t get around to posting everything I had hoped to, I put up a few posts that I’m really proud of — as well as one in particular that I regret. We learn, we keep going.

Ok, so on MC Chris' Facebook it says he is coming to Dragon Con. Is this true? Will he be doing a show? The last time he didn't do a show at the con and did one at a local night club instead. Which made me very sad.

Last night I dreamed that ranjtheobscure came here to tell me that he wasn't dead. It was all some huge mistake and to not be sad anymore. We had a great conversation and the topics ranged all over the place. Such a nice dream, but then I woke up and realized that was all it was. A dream...

hollyqueen asked me if he was the first friend of mine to die. Ranj was more than a friend. And yes, he was the first one of mine to pass on.

Iowa (large parts, plus parts of Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin) will, as of July 22nd, become the world's largest governmentally-recognized wine-producing region, the Upper Mississippi River Valley APA. The region's wines are coming along nicely. When last home, I picked up a fun summery white to bring back with me. It's a good cook-out wine; now if only the rain would stop for long enough to cook dinner to go with it.

Alright you knowledgeable Seattle people you. I need a decent car mechanic, preferably somewhere around the Udistrict/Wallingford/Fremont area. I have an '89 Honda Accord and I took it to the mechanic I've trusted and loved for years to get an oil change and a new muffler and after finding out they've had a change of management, they apparently have to keep my car till Monday and I dropped it off yesterday morning - WTF?! I checked the memories..something like this totally needs to be in the memories, I'm sure I've seen this exact post before. Oh and I was hoping for something a little more personal than google. Thanks!!
