Thursday morning 10 a.m. - Blather. Rants. Repeat.
A Møøse once bit my sister ...
Thursday morning 10 a.m.
We were not quite a day and a half behind a quintessential S&G song, but it was close enough. Our Tourist Morning in Manhattan was a full rich day, away, mostly, from the standard tourist traps but with plenty of good things to remember.

First, we headed south and west through the Meatpacking District to get to the High Line- the former elevated West Side track that's gone from rail to trail.  From there, we could see touristy things, but only from a distance-

- but also much more closeup views of the sights of the trail itself, on a cold day- life holding on, given the slightest chance-

Ten to fifteen blocks of the trail were more than enough on this frigid morning, so we headed back east and down into the subway, surfacing near FAO Schwarz.  First thing in sight were Muppets on demand:

No sign of Scred or the Mighty Favog, despite all the SNL 40th pub, so we headed upstairs in search of other merch. There was a whole display of Acme products, but no sign of Wile E. Coyote:

Next, we found a whole department of skullduggery, which Emily was kind enough to model:

It's up to you, New Yorick, New Yorick!

Ultimately, though, Emily needed plushies, and plenthy of them were to be had: she selected this guy for herself-

- while we quickly agreed that these guys needed to come home to Mom-

After that, we checked out Train Your Dragon items, a green-screen photo op with Iron Man ("Damn! You're the one who held up the metal detector at the airport for hours!"),and a big stash of Star Wars stuff:

Funny Talk You Would Up Hand Butt Oz Hand Frank's With

Sated from all of that, we headed back out to and through the lower corner of Central Park. Christo's gates were on display here years ago when we passed by; this time, it just seemed more serene:

From there, it was a quick trip to Lincoln Center, lunch, and the other details that will be in tomorrow's wrap-up post about the end of yesterday:)

I will have you know that your visit caused me to go buy a Billy Joel album. I haven't had access to one in years, and the tunes have been racketing around in my brain, so I had to go buy an album to get rid of some of the ear-worms.

Oddly, we don't have a single one of his albums in any post-cassette format. I feel a box set coming on....

Thank you:) I'm still waiting on the kid for some photos she took in my celebrated no-room-on-the-phone period, but we both worked yesterday and I don't want to bug her if she's still as zonked from the whole trip as I am;)
