Shiny is better than shitty.... - Blather. Rants. Repeat.
A Møøse once bit my sister ...
Shiny is better than shitty....

I almost always post something daily. Yesterday was not one of those days. It was a "If you can't say something nice...." kinda situation.

Nothing bad, much less horrible. Just the emotional equivalent of death by 1000 paper cuts. (Plus a real one: I cut a finger on a cat fud can three days ago and keep breaking it open:P)  Work is Groundhog Day this week.  Get up, shlep to court for mostly waiting around, spend the rest of the day trying to move things along that nobody else wants to move along, repeat.

It hasn't helped that I've been awakened almost every day this week by really disturbing dreams. No idea why; despite the drudgery, the results of work have been decent, and while this current stretch is frustrating and not very profitable, I am way ahead of where I was at this time last year, have virtually everything paid for ahead of its due date, and the kitchen has been in something of a hiatus for a few days so that's not adding to the exhaustion. Still- it's hard to get going when your last subconscious thoughts are of being lost, or with your child in distress, or worse.

I'm also losing shit at a record pace- better than losing my shit, I suppose, but it does contribute.  Two days ago, I got to the gym without two of the five stupid things I need, replaced one of them and then lost that. (Eleanor found it; it was on the kitchen table. EVERYTHING is on the kitchen table these days.)  Then yesterday, I discovered I'd lost one of the nicer-condition Mets t-shirts from last year's vacation, which could've been separated from me in any of ten different places, if not thrown out or tossed from a moving car.  I'm sure this is just a function of how out of sorts things are around the house, and with various transitions going on in both of my regular work settings. It'll get better.

And actually, it just did:

The cooktop is connected- and it's purty:)  Once I've gotten over the resemblance to a big-ass game of Pacman, I'm sure it'll be great.

I prefer cooking on a gas stovetop, but having one here in NJ this past year and having to keep it clean makes me appreciate the easy to clean glass topped electric stove that I left behind in SC. It's also nice to have the extra counter space - sort of - to use when needed. The trick is remembering when it's still hot. 12+ years and I managed not to melt anything. :)
